OnePlus 8 Expected Features

OnePlus 8:

OnePlus generally announces a couple of smartphones a year, but in 2019 announced two options of the first smartphone: OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro, as well as two options of the ‘T’ version in OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro. It is therefore expected that the Chinese company will introduce OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro by the first half of 2020. That’s all we’ve heard and what we expect to see.

Expected Release Date And Price:

The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are expected to arrive somewhere in the first half of 2020, likely in May. The OnePlus 7T series starts at £ 549, with the Pro model starting at £ 699. We would expect the OnePlus 8 series to stay around the same price, probably with a slight increase.

OnePlus Design:

Renders of this series suggest OnePlus will opt for the punch-hole design, with a Vertical rear camera system and some Premium finishes.

Display:

What we do know for sure is the OnePlus 8 models will both come with 90Hz refresh rate displays. We also expect both models to be AMOLED panels with HDR10+ support and a fingerprint sensor under the screen. It is likely that the OnePlus Pro has a curved screen, while the OnePlus 8 may have a flat screen and the OnePlus 8 Pro may also be slightly larger than the standard model.

Hardware:

These models are expected to offer the same processor as the other, which will probably be the last Qualcomm chipset to be revealed at the end of 2019. If past naming conventions are possible, it is likely that this processor will be called Snapdragon 865. We would also expect the 8 models, or at least the Pro model, to offer 5G functionality.

Camera:

It is not yet clear which camera features the 8 model series could offer, but the renderings suggest that the Pro model will offer an additional sensor along with a triple rear camera – probably a 3D depth sensor – compared to the standard model with some Possible software improvements.

Software:

The OnePlus 7T series was launched on Android 10 by default, so we expect the same treatment for the this models. We also expect the 8 models to get a quick update of Android 11 when it arrives later in 2020.
