When the Poco brand was born, he had the reputation of a top killer. And while F2 Pro keeps this spirit alive, it costs more than its predecessor. The mid-range Poco X2 keeps the price low, although it cannot kill any flagship. But now there is an even cheaper option.
The Little M2 Pro will be available in India next week starting at CNY 14,000. The X2 costs around 17,500 INR, the F2 Pro isn’t available there yet, but it’s one of the cheaper Snapdragon 865 phones out there (still costs more than double the X2 price). In August last year you could have bought a Poco F1 for INR 18,000.
So, is a phone like M2 Pro on the mark? If that brand is “flagship killer”, then certainly not, but Little has pivoted on that to offer low-cost incarnations of Redmi phones. The K30 Pro in the case of the F2 Pro, the K30 has become the X2 and now the Redmi Note 9S has been reworked to become the Poco M2 Pro.
It is not a simple renaming, however, the Little version updates the fast charging hardware: it supports 33 W and comes with the power brick for it while the 9S exceeds 18W.
The Redmi Note 9S is called “Redmi Note 9 Pro” in India and is different from what global markets know as Note 9 Pro. So keep that in mind when making price comparisons. By the way, Amazon India has exactly 14,000 INR, corresponding to the Poco.
At the same price, faster charging is a positive advantage and Poco is trying to make its way with the software (which is still heavily based on MIUI). But Xiaomi models with a different name are not the only competition.
Poco M2 Pro prices • Feature comparison with Realme 6 Pro (which is INR 18,000)
Realme 6, for example, is INR 15,000. It includes a MediaTek Helio G90T chipset, which has a slightly faster GPU than the Snapdragon 720G inside M2 Pro. In addition, it has a 90Hz screen (which is slightly smaller) and a 64MP main camera (against 48MP). The charging speed is similar to 30 W, but the battery is less than 4,300 mAh versus 5,000 mAh.
And you can still easily find new Poco F1 units – right now the Armored Edition is INR 19,000 on Amazon India (8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of memory, not to mention the elegant carbon fiber texture on the back). However, the F1’s camera and charging speed are out of date.
But F1 is from another era, since then the young brand Poco has changed. Has it changed for the better, that is, will you be collecting Poco F2 Pro? Or will you pass it?
